I know that you must have so much to do after reuniting with your family! I love vintage kokeshi but I would like to support living makers as much as possible especially given their hardships of 2011. I found a couple of vintage ejiko by Mr. Mito on one of the auction sites but I would rather that the funds go to him rather than to a reseller. With this information I'll be able to go forward, so I'm very grateful. Thank you again and best regards, KathrynKathryn Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08013208746297193484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4027309141288862282.post-59851249119094657262013-09-30T18:00:49.325+09:002013-09-30T18:00:49.325+09:00Kathryn,
Thank you for your message. It's true...Kathryn,
Thank you for your message. It's true that Mr. Mito is hard to get in touch with, and his kokeshis aren't easy to find, but they're certainly worth acquiring. If you're in Japan and you can make it to the Michinoku Kokeshi Festival in Yamagata City this weekend (5-6 Oct 2013) I'm certain you'll be able to find some there, and perhaps even meet him! If you want to try and contact him through regular mail his address in English is: Mr. Hiroshi Mito, Higashi Honcho 3-1-1, Tendo-shi, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, 994-0026. His phone number is (023) 653-2623 -- don't forget the country code. Japanese only though. The other option might be to contact the gift shop at the Tsugaru Kokeshi Kan. There's an email address at this web address and I think English might be ok: http://tsugarukokeshi.com
Good luck, and please let me know if you need further assistance.
Best,
John Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02990318342854955148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4027309141288862282.post-59006845522696804752013-09-23T01:30:35.615+09:002013-09-23T01:30:35.615+09:00Welcome back from your desert adventure! I don'...Welcome back from your desert adventure! I don't want to impose but I was wondering if you had an address or email address for Mr. Mito? I would like to support him by buying some of his work and I've googled in Japanese and English and can't find any contact information. Thank you in advance. I can't wait for your Mito Hiroshi work blog.

You make my day, here in Spain it's so difficult to find information about kokeshi, and Mito is my favorite kokeshi artist!

If one day I visit Japan I want to go to workshop of Mr. Mito Hiroshi 水戸寛さん!

LaylaLaylahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02273771559193218560noreply@blogger.com
